Meet the Team
Brian McBee Executive Director
Brian is a licensed and certified healthcare administrator (LNHA, CNHA, CALA) with more than 15 years of professional experience in senior healthcare operations. With a degree in Psychology and Gerontology and dual M.A.’s in Management, Leadership and Human Resource Development, Brian has the broad knowledge needed to be a successful leader for Covenant Living. Throughout his career, Brian has held many positions within the senior living industry including, Independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s/memory care, skilled nursing, sub-acute skilled nursing, and in-house dialysis. Many of the communities he had served held the highest ranking of CMS Five-Star Quality. Brian is grateful to be able to serve our residents using his knowledge base he has learned throughout his career.
Kristi Florence Associate Executive Director
Kristi joined Covenant Living at Mount Miguel in 2019, which began her career senior living. Her background is a melting pot of experiences and skills that have enabled her to jump right in and hit the ground running. She graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where she received her Bachelor of Science, and went on to spend over 10 years handling research, training and care of a variety of wild animals in both zoos and natural environments. Her interest in hospitality and operations drove her to different aspects of zoo management and allowed her to work at three of the top zoological institutions in the nation. Covenant Living has given her the opportunity to merge her talents in operations and facility management and her strong faith to provide joy and peace of mind to residents, family members and employees at Mount Miguel.
Cristin Whittaker Healthcare Administrator
Cristin is a licensed and certified healthcare administrator. She graduated from Oregon State with a major in Human Development and Family Science, and a minor in Gerontology. She started her career as a Social Services Director and later becoming an Administrator, where she has had the privileged of enjoying various Administrative roles through the years. Cristin recalls the moment she walked in to the lobby for her first interview and how she knew this was a perfect fit. She could hear Christian music playing in the background and felt a warm sense of peace. She and her team are very compatible and are enthusiastic about learning and growing together and loves the campus, the mission, the people, and the opportunities for growth.
Rachel White Director of Sales
Rachel joined Covenant Living in 2021 as a Sales Representative at Covenant Living at the Samarkand in Santa Barbara. She had previously worked for a marketing software company where she felt there was a lack of mission and service. Rachel loves working for Covenant Living because of the company’s Common Purpose to provide quality care and a better way of life for residents and for resident’s families. She has seen this first hand as her grandmother is a resident at a Covenant Living community. Rachel wakes up everything day knowing she gets to make a difference in people’s lives and is proud to be a part of the Covenant Living team.
Ron Almario Assisted Living Director
Ron joined the Covenant Living family in 2015. He began his career working in skilled nursing facilities in various positions as a CNA, Charge Nurse, Treatment nurse, AIT, and an assistant administrator. He is passionate about working with seniors, especially in Memory Care and applies his experience from a Skilled Nursing setting into our Assisted Living. He believes in keeping residents as independent as they can with safety in mind.
Margo Bule Resident Services Director
Margo’s passion for serving seniors began in high school, where she volunteered at a nursing home painting holiday murals on the windows and interacting with the residents. Her career path took several turns, eventually bringing her back to the industry. Her career in senior living began as an Activities Assistant at a nursing home in Pennsylvania, 28 years ago. She became a director shortly thereafter and has served in several related roles through the years. Margo joined Covenant Living at Mount Miguel in 2014 as the Activities Director. After two years, she shifted to become our Resident Service Director, which is by far her favorite role to date. She enjoys her role immensely, overseeing Life Enrichment and Fitness programming. The residents of Mount Miguel are like a second family to her and she enjoys interacting with them daily, serving them in many capacities. Margo believes in the Common Purpose of Covenant Living of spreading joy and peace of mind to residents, staff, and family members by providing a better way of life.
Cesar Castillo Director of Dining Services
After moving to the US at the age of 16 he became a dishwasher at the La Quinta Resort & Spa and learned everything about European and classical cooking under his mentor. Since then, he’s worked at golf clubs, casinos, and top restaurants nationwide. He is also a pastry chef and ice sculptor – being on the Olympic Culinary team – and hopes to incorporate both into the dining here at Mount Miguel.
Cesar feels that God brought him here and he feels blessed to already be working with such a friendly staff. He looks forward to meeting all the residents as well.
Miles Stillwell Executive Chef
Miles joined Covenant Living at Mount Miguel in 2015 after his interest of senior living was piqued by his wife becoming a registered nurse. His career began as a line cook in local restaurants, and while working his first hotel job was invited into the Sheraton’s sous chef training program. Upon graduation, he rose through the culinary ranks in the area’s hotels and resorts. Highlights from his career, includes hosting the San Diego Restaurant Association’s award banquet and representing the San Diego Chargers in the 2003 Taste of the NFL’s “Share our Strength” national fundraiser that included several television appearances.
Upon joining Covenant Living he can still recall the incredible welcome he received from the residents and staff. “I really enjoy the friendships I have made with many of the residents here and look forward to greeting them whenever we see each other in the dining room or around the beautiful grounds.”
